The Beikoku Shidokan Karatedo Association's vision and commitment to affiliated dojos and their members is to:

  • Promote Friendship, Cooperation and Learning.

  • Teach Seikichi Iha Sensei’s remarkable and effective style of Okinawan Karate.

  • Experience the long-term life balance benefits of practicing traditional Okinawan Shidokan Karate.

  • Support each affiliated dojo with resources, mentorship and support.

Sensei Seikichi Iha

A teacher of teachers, Sensei Seikichi Iha began his karate training in Okinawa as a teenager, studying under the renowned masters, Sensei Shinpan Gusukuma, and Sensei Katsuya Miyahira.

Before coming to Michigan in 1974, Iha Sensei trained students in Okinawa, Japan, the Philippines, Guam, and Los Angeles, California. He had an outstanding reputation as a highly skilled karateka due to his unwavering dedication to the learn, teach and refine his skills. He established the Beikoku Shidokan Karatedo Association in 2001 to promote traditional karate and his vision of friendship, cooperation and learning.

Leadership

The Beikoku Shidokan Karatedo Association is governed and managed by our Co-President Directors. Their mutual objective is to maintain the quality of the association by carrying on Iha Sensei’s legacy and vision.
